Dispute resolution
Corporate risk management
Our Corporate Risk Management Group advises
organisations about their safety policies, and all related issues,
including dealing with disasters, death and injury.
The Corporate Manslaughter Act received Royal
Assent on 26 July 2007. It will come into force on 6
April 2008. It is very much concerned with the organisation and
management of safety systems and requires companies, from the Board
down, to demonstrate a genuine culture of valuing and adhering to
safety systems.
We not only advise upon safety planning and
Board involvement. We also deal with claims facing companies which
involve allegations of breach of safety systems. This includes
corporate manslaughter investigations and those by the Health and
Safety Executive and any consequent prosecutions, compensation
claims, inquests and public enquiries. We have considerable
experience in matters of this sort – both in the UK and overseas –
and we are able to provide clients with a complete service in
preparing for and dealing with such issues.
Our Corporate Risk Management Group is led
by Peter Stewart, our Head of
Dispute Resolution, and Rhys Griffiths, a solicitor
within that department. It also includes a number of other
solicitors from within Dispute Resolution and also other
departments across the firm.
