“Mad” Maldon Mud Race – Colin Gibson competes in suit and bowler hat

On 30 December 2007, Colin Gibson entered the "Mad" Maldon Mud Race. This mud race is organised by a community in Maldon as part of its holiday celebrations, with competitors donning a variety of wacky costumes and raising money for charity.

It is a foot race across the Blackwater Basin at low tide. Conditions were not good with competitors getting very muddy, very cold and very tired.  You will see from the photographs that Colin competed in a suit and bowler hat!

Colin raised £830 in total, which will be split between the competition's charities and Barnardo's.

This fundraising event was included on the Barnardo's website and the image on the left was the chosen image for the entire festive fundraising section.
