Corporate social responsibility
Environmental
Most of us as individuals are concerned about
the environment. At Field Fisher Waterhouse, many of our
staff are involved in generating and implementing ideas to address
those concerns. We believe sound management of environmental
issues is critical to a well-run firm and we know many of our
clients agree. Improving our environmental performance is
consistent with our brand, values and CSR policy.
We have already developed a responsible
approach towards environmental matters. Here are just some
examples of initiatives that we have undertaken:
- We are now recycling over five tonnes of
paper and one tonne of cardboard per month, reducing our
landfill by 80%. We have upgraded our printers and
copiers and related software to encourage duplex printing and are
soon to launch further initiatives reducing paper
consumption.
- We have been improving our buildings. The
refurbishment of our offices has given us a more efficient climate
control system - it uses less energy to heat and
cool the building than our old system and temperatures can now be
zoned. We have also refurbished all the WCs so that they use less
water and we have installed motion sensors for
lighting in toilets and stairwells now. Staff are encouraged
to switch off lights, computers, photocopiers and printers at the
end of each day and we will shortly run a “switch off”
campaign.
- We are committed to the disposal of redundant
IT kit for re-use and recycling.
- We have introduced an on-site water
purification system to reduce our carbon footprint
by stopping the transportation of over two thousand large bottles
of water to our offices every year.
- We have installed a state-of-the-art video
conferencing suite to cut down on business
travel.
- We have introduced a
Ride2Work Scheme. Staff have the opportunity to
purchase a cycle and accessories at a discounted price. This
scheme is designed to promote healthier journeys to work and reduce
environmental pollution caused by commuting. We also provide a
secure cycle storage area.
- We now use recycled copier and
printer paper throughout the firm including for our
letterhead. We have increased our proportion of recycled
stationery supplies too.
We are bringing together all the good work on
environmental issues, the sensible practices people have put into
place and the good ideas people have, to improve our green
performance. We are totally committed to reducing unnecessary and
thoughtless consumption of energy and resources and to recycle
whenever we can.
Internally we publish Green
News, our regular staff bulletin that explains
what we are doing to make Field Fisher Waterhouse a more
environmentally friendly place to work and encourages suggestions
and comments.
