Dispute resolution

Construction disputes

We understand that time, cost and appropriate risk allocation are crucial to the success of any construction project. Failure to address these issues can result in costly disputes. Where disputes do occur, we understand the need to find a speedy and commercial solution.

Clients come to us for our in-depth understanding of the building and engineering industries and construction law. Our clients range from employers, contractors, developers and funders to consultants and government agencies.

The Construction Group comprises two partners and seven assistant solicitors, engaged in both contentious and non-contentious work.

We have been advising on major commercial developments and projects for many years, from the development and construction of commercial, residential and mixed-use premises and leisure centres, to chemical and industrial plants and other infrastructure projects such as power stations, offshore structures, pipelines and wind farms.

In recent years, we have also been acting for public bodies and private sector contractors on PFI projects for new accommodation, housing, transport links, technology services and other infrastructure developments.

Our contentious advice includes advising on all aspects of dispute resolution in relation to construction and engineering projects.

We represent our clients in the High Court, before all major arbitral bodies, in mediation and in adjudication.

Our experience includes:

  • hotel and restaurant complexes
  • retail parks
  • leisure centres
  • office blocks

Our experience also includes contentious issues arising in relation to a wide range of other infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, such as:

  • industrial and manufacturing plants
  • power stations
  • offshore structures
  • marine installations
  • pipelines
