| Our continued commitment to innovation has been recognised
further with Stewart Room – one of our
technology partners – scooping the Legal Innovator of the Year
Award at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards.
The award – the most prestigious of all the 12
awards handed out – rewarded Stewart’s continued work in innovating
at the junction of legal practice and technology.

His innovations include a data protection
website which he set up with fellow barristers during the dotcom
boom, www.dpalaw.info. Meanwhile, his free
quarterly seminar for information technology companies and
breakfast briefings in data security have become the go-to events
in the industry.
“[He] is a rare example of a lawyer surveying
the legal needs of the market, designing a product to meet them
under his own impetus and then devising a successful sales pitch,”
was just one of the glowing testimonies on Stewart’s work in the
final report.
For a report compiled as a result of 600
submissions, 690 interviews and more than six months research, it’s
perhaps unsurprising that clients were also quoted in the
report.
One client commented that Stewart’s service
had “made the difference between us being in the market and not
being in it”. According to another, he “marries technology and the
law together”.
As a further endorsement to Field Fisher
Waterhouse’s commitment to innovation, the firm was also runner up
in the Innovation in Legal Expertise category at the awards. As a
firm, we rose to 32nd in the FT’s Innovative Lawyers Top 50 (which
includes all European law firms) and were the highest scoring firm
in the Commercial category.
