Field Fisher Waterhouse advises international recruitment agency on franchising in Latin America
26 April 2007
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP advised MRINetwork Worldwide Ltd,
part of Management Recruiters International, Inc. on the
appointment of a new Master Licensee to manage the development and
expansion of the MRINetwork brand in Latin America.
Management Recruiters International, Inc. is one of the world’s
largest search and recruitment organisations with offices in over
35 countries. It is a subsidiary of staffing and outsourcing leader
CDI Corp, listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CEO and President of the new Master Licensee is Carlos
Rivera, who will take over the responsibility for supporting
the five existing offices in Mexico and Costa Rica. The new Master
Licensee plans to open a new office in Brazil later this year, with
ambitious plans for over 30 offices across the Latin America region
as a whole.
Field Fisher Waterhouse’s Head of Franchising
Mark Abell led on
the deal, assisted by solicitor Lewis Cohen, working closely with
the CEO of MRINetwork Worldwide, Steve Mills. This latest
international franchising deal once again demonstrates the strength
of the firm’s franchising
group and its international capability. It follows recent
international work for Wyndham Hotel Group, Hamleys and Reiss
amongst others.
Mark Abell
said: “MRIWWN have done a great deal here. Latin America is a
thriving market that presents many substantial challenges to
franchisors seeking to enter it. This is one of several deals that
we have done in the region over the past year.”
Steve Mills, CEO of MRINetwork said: “This is an exciting
development for us. It was not an easy one to put together given
the size of the region and the challenges that it presents to
franchisors seeking to enter it. Fortunately Mark Abell and his
team at Field Fisher Waterhouse were able to provide us with the
legal expertise and commercial experience necessary to help us
close this deal in a business like and timely fashion.”
