New employment partner boosts Field Fisher Waterhouse’s burgeoning Brussels office
30 August 2007
The Brussels office of Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces
today the appointment of employment partner
Olivier
Rijckaert, the third lateral hire for the Brussels office in just two
months.
Olivier and his team will join on 1st September from Bird &
Bird where he was head of the Brussels employment practice. His
appointment to Field Fisher Waterhouse’s rapidly expanding Brussels
office closely follows those of corporate partner,
Marie Evrard
and pensions partner
Corinne Merla with their respective teams.
Before joining Bird & Bird, Olivier worked at Allen &
Overy and prior to that was general counsel for Ericsson (Belgium).
His employment practice is recommended in Legal 500 and Chambers
Europe 2007, has close synergies with Field Fisher Waterhouse’s
Employment Group
in London, and focuses on reorganisations, industrial disputes and
relationships with unions. Olivier also has broad experience in
areas such as flexible working, employee benefits, business
immigration, discrimination, privacy and IP.
He has a strong client base including both blue chip companies
and public sector organisations. His practice also has a
particular focus on health, IT & telecoms, financial services
and retail clients – all traditional Field Fisher Waterhouse
strengths.
Eric Cusas,
managing partner of Field Fisher Waterhouse in Brussels, said:
“Olivier
Rijckaert’s employment expertise will be a great asset,
boosting our employment capability both
here and at a European level. We are continuing to grow our
Brussels office and his appointment will bring the total number of
lawyers up to 21, following on from the recent appointments of
Marie Evrard
and Corinne
Merla.”
Margaret
Davis, Head of Employment at Field Fisher Waterhouse said:
“Olivier is an excellent addition to our growing European
partnership. His expertise and focus on industry sectors such
as the public sector, retail and financial services fits in closely
with the expertise of our employment team in London. Olivier’s
considerable knowledge of Belgium labour law and awareness of the
European law and labour law issues in other European jurisdictions
will be key to the work we are doing across Europe.”
