FFW hires leading data protection partner

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP (FFW) announces today the
appointment of Stewart Room, who joins
the firm as a partner in the Privacy and
Information Law Group.
This latest appointment boosts FFW’s pre-eminent Privacy and
Information Law practice, which with his arrival now boasts six
partners. The practice covers European and worldwide privacy
advice as well as providing Freedom of Information advice to the
public sector.
Stewart joins FFW from Rowe Cohen where he was head of the
firm’s Data Protection Unit. His appointment is FFW’s second
lateral hire of 2007, following the appointment of restructuring
and insolvency partner, Robin Tutty, in
January.
Stewart is both a solicitor and barrister. He is an expert
in the field of data protection law and has advised a broad range
of businesses and organisations on this area. He is chairman
of NADPO (the National Association of Data Protection Officers) and
is author of a recently published book, ‘Data Protection and
Compliance’.
Stewart will work closely with partners Nigel Wildish, Eduardo Ustaran and
Marcus Turle, whose clients include the Home Office, Pearson, IMS
Health, BBC, Accenture and the Learning and Skills Council.
