FFW hosts annual conference of the European Franchise Network
21 March 2007
Expert franchise lawyers from across Europe gathered on Friday
16 March 2007 at the Third Annual Conference of the European Franchise
Network (“EfN”). The EfN offers an integrated service to
franchisors through a team of specialist lawyers based in the 27
countries of the European Union and non EU countries such as
Turkey, Norway and Switzerland.
The EfN was set up by UK’s leading franchise law firm, Field
Fisher Waterhouse LLP (FFW), in early 2000 and is chaired by FFW’s
Franchise
Team Head, Mark
Abell. Members of EfN have done over 30 franchise deals
together over the last 12 months.
The theme of this year’s conference was Good Faith in
Franchising in Europe and there were a number of interesting
presentations and stimulating discussions from representatives
across the Continent.
The talks included FFW’s international franchise expert (and
dual German and English qualified partner) Babette Marzheuser-Wood
on Good Faith in Germany and a presentation on the potential impact
of the Unfair Contract Terms bill on franchising in the UK from
FFW’s Head of Franchise Dispute Resolution, Victoria Hobbs.
Lawyers from Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Sweden and the
Baltic States also gave presentations along with a guest speaker
from the Middle East Franchise Network (“MEfN”) which is also
chaired by FFW.
