Field Fisher Waterhouse Wins Place on Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority Legal Panel

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP has won a
competitive tender to advise the Human Fertilisation &
Embryology Authority (HFEA) on legal matters. The firm has
been appointed to the HFEA’s panel of legal service providers for a
period of three years.
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology
Authority is the UK's independent regulator overseeing safe and
appropriate practice in fertility treatment and embryo research.
The Authority licences and monitors centres carrying out
IVF, artificial insemination and human embryo research.
This is the first time that the HFEA has held
a competitive tender process and set up a formal legal panel.
The Authority will be looking to members of the panel to provide
the full range of legal advice including general public law,
corporate governance, judicial review, employment, contracts
and procurement, medical law and training.
Sarah Ellson,
partner in the Public and Regulatory Law Group at Field Fisher Waterhouse
will lead a team from across the firm’s practice areas, including
employment, privacy
and information and corporate and
commercial. Field Fisher Waterhouse has worked with the HFEA
for four years, advising on a wide range of regulatory issues including a review of the work
of the Licence Committee which regulates research and
treatment.
