Leading tax partner joins Field Fisher Waterhouse

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today
the appointment of tax partner Derek
Hill who joins the firm from Herbert Smith. Derek joins the
firm’s tax practice to take a lead role in corporate tax, working
closely with the firm’s Corporate Group.
Derek has worked on high profile mergers and
acquisitions such as AOL’s disposal of its European internet access
business and Tata Motors’ acquisition of Jaguar and Land
Rover. He also advises on the tax aspects of corporate
restructuring, on tax investigations, corporate tax litigation and
tax based finance. Derek has particular expertise in the media
sector and advises a number of big entertainment brands including
Time Warner and Sky. He also advises clients on energy
taxation with a particular focus on the growing area of renewable
energy.
Derek was a partner at Herbert Smith for over
five years. He is Field Fisher Waterhouse’s 14th lateral hire of
the current financial year and will further strengthen the firm’s
tax practice, boosting its capability in corporate tax, tax
litigation and in the media and renewable energy sectors, which are all key
growth areas for the firm.
