Field Fisher Waterhouse elects new Senior Partner
04 June 2009
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
Nicholas Thompsell as Senior
Partner. Nicholas takes over from commercial & finance
partner Jon Fife who has been the firm’s
senior partner for the last five years and who, after 38 years at
the firm, will be taking a part-time role as a move towards his
retirement.
Nicholas advises on corporate matters and has particular
expertise in partnership law. He joined Field Fisher Waterhouse’s
corporate practice in 1992 after eight years at Slaughter and May
and was made partner in 1993. Since then he has served on the
finance committee as well as acting as the firm’s constitutional
adviser. Nicholas was elected to the position at the end of
April and will serve for an initial three year term.
Nicholas Thompsell said: “I consider
it a great honour to have been elected to the position of Senior
Partner at this ambitious and successful firm. I joined Field
Fisher Waterhouse in 1992. The firm now is in some ways
unrecognisable from the firm I joined - we have grown from a 36
partner, city firm to a firm with over 130 partners and offices in
the major European jurisdictions – but I am pleased that through
all this growth it has kept the same co-operative ethos that
attracted me to it.”
Jon Fife said: “I have been fortunate in being senior partner
during a period of considerable growth and success for the
firm. The firm’s practice is broadly based which makes it an
interesting place to be and also positions it well in the current
economic climate.”
