Field Fisher Waterhouse hires leading international finance partner
24 September 2009
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
partner Gonzalo Fernandez who joins the
firm’s Derivatives & Structured Finance Group. Formerly a
partner at Ashurst, he specialises in structured finance and capital
markets.
Gonzalo has a particular focus on advising corporate trustees on
structured finance transactions, high
yield bonds and other capital markets instruments and managed the
corporate trustee practice whilst at Ashurst. He also advises
special purpose vehicles, European banks on repackagings and
securitisation and hedge funds on complex capital structures.
Gonzalo trained at Clifford Chance and was a partner at Ashurst
for eleven years. He has worked with most of the major
investment banks over the years and has built up a significant
international client base. He was a founding director of the
European High Yield Association, a post he held for three years,
and also spent time working in the US, helping to develop Clifford
Chance’s New York office.
Gonzalo joins partners Guy Usher,
Edward Miller and Joe Carrico in Field Fisher Waterhouse’s
dedicated Derivatives & Structured Finance Group. The
Group has been practising in derivatives
since the early 90s and has been very active in the structured
finance markets in recent years. The Group has a strong client base
including global investment banks, broker-dealers, asset
managers, pension schemes and multinationals.
Guy Usher, Head of Derivatives &
Structured Finance at Field Fisher Waterhouse, said: “We are
delighted to welcome Gonzalo to the team. He has an excellent
reputation in both trustee work, repackagings and securitisation
and his international experience will be a great asset to the
Group. We are looking to expand further in the coming months as
other firms have retreated. We see this time as a real
opportunity.
