Field Fisher Waterhouse grows employment and pensions practice with new partner hire
14 September 2009
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
partner Jim Wright who joins the firm's Manchester office on 14th
September. He specialises in employment
law and joins from Irwin Mitchell where he was head of the firm’s
Sheffield employment team.
Jim advises on the full range of employment law issues,
including TUPE, contracts and policies, industrial action,
individual and collective redundancy and employee termination
agreements. He advises on complex contentious employment law
issues including Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeals Tribunal,
High Court litigation and claims to the European Court of
Justice. Jim has acted on complex discrimination claims
including a landmark retirement age case that went to the European
Court of Justice earlier this year.
Jim also advises on the employment aspects of outsourcings,
insolvencies, cross border transactions, business purchase
agreements and other commercial arrangements. Many of Jim’s clients
are PLCs and financial and educational institutions.
Jim’s appointment will further boost the firm’s six partner
Employment and Pensions Group which acts for a range of clients
including blue chip commercial and retail organisations as well as
government departments and agencies.
Jim is the 11th partner to join Field Fisher Waterhouse this
year and his appointment closely follows that of commercial
litigation and insolvency specialist Michael Mulligan who joined
the firm earlier this month from Halliwells.
Richard
Kenyon, Head of Employment and Pensions at Field Fisher
Waterhouse, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jim to the
team. He has an excellent reputation as both a lawyers’ lawyer
and practice builder and has acted in some of the highest profile
employment litigation of recent times. His expertise will be
a great asset to the Employment and Pensions practice generally and
will also give the group added presence in Manchester. ”
