22 July 2010
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
technology partner John Worthy who joins the firm from Denton Wilde
Sapte where he was Sector Head for Technology, Media and Telecoms
from 2004 to 2008.
John advises major banks, corporates and government agencies on
complex technology, outsourcing and telecoms projects in the UK and
internationally. He has over 25 years’ experience advising on both
commercial transactions and regulatory issues. He specialises in
the financial services, transport and TMT sectors, covering payment
processes, security and data protection, securities trading,
systems integration, development, outsourcing, network roll outs,
IT procurement and satellite transactions.
John has been a partner at Denton Wilde Sapte since 1996. He is
ranked by both Chambers and Legal 500 as a leading individual. John
was the winner of UK telecom lawyer award in the International Law
Office Client Choice awards 2010. This award is based exclusively
on client recommendations and involved nominations from over 1500
in-house counsel.
This latest lateral hire will further strengthen the firm’s
well-recognised technology law practice which is now one of the
largest single site technology practices in Europe and last year
once again exceeded its financial targets. The team has grown in
recent years with the hires of partners such as Andrew Dodd from
DLA Piper and Nick Holland from Eversheds last year.
In April, Field Fisher Waterhouse unveiled its new strategy
focusing on attracting clients from industries that are highly
regulated and those that are IP and technology driven. As part of
this the firm will be prioritising growth of its IP &
Technology, Corporate and Regulatory practice areas.
Michael Chissick, Head of the Technology Law Group at Field
Fisher Waterhouse, said: “John has an excellent reputation and will
be a significant addition to our expanding technology practice
which is key to the firm’s new strategy. His telecoms and satellite
expertise consolidates the firm’s position as a market leader in
the sector and his banking technology experience will allow us to
grow our financial services capability.”
