Field Fisher Waterhouse appointed to advise on £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters scheme
25 November 2010
The Planning and Regeneration team at Field Fisher Waterhouse
LLP has been appointed by Peel Land and Property (Ports) Ltd
to advise on all planning aspects of the £5.5 billion Liverpool
Waters scheme.
Part of Peel Waters, the largest regeneration project in the UK,
Liverpool Waters comprises 1.3 million square metres of mixed-use
waterfront space across 60 hectares of disused dockland in north
Liverpool. When completed, the scheme will include more than 9,000
homes, a cruise ship terminal, two clusters of tall buildings,
offices, shops and leisure space. It will be a spectacular
mix of buildings, regenerating and transforming the area within and
adjacent to the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile World Heritage Site
to create a world-class, high quality mixed-use water focused
quarter in central Liverpool.
Partner Karen Cooksley, will lead on the project, assisted by
Manchester based partner Colette McCormack and senior associate
Lindsay Garratt. The team, which has been together for over a
decade, was appointed not only because of their wide ranging
experience dealing with major regeneration schemes, tall buildings,
waterside projects and World Heritage Sites but also for what Peel
described as their "professionalism, flair and personality" which
the company considered would fit well with its own passionate
commitment to delivering its vision for Liverpool.
The team will work closely with Peel’s Development Director
Lindsey Ashworth and Liverpool Waters project manager Ian
Pollitt and their consultant team led by WYG, advising on all
planning legal matters.
Karen Cooksley said: “This is a unique and amazing project for a
client with a proven ability to deliver to its vision. It
will completely transform the face of Liverpool’s historic
docklands. Our team’s experience and strong track record advising
on major regeneration projects was key to our appointment and we’re
extremely excited about getting started and working with Peel and
the team to deliver a world-class scheme.”
