Field Fisher Waterhouse expands energy sector expertise with planning partner hire
30 August 2011
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
partner John Bowman to the firm’s Real Estate practice. John, who will
head up the firm’s planning and environment practice, joins from
Burness where he was a consultant specialising in planning,
non-contentious environmental law and regulatory matters.
Whilst John deals with all aspects of planning and environmental
practice, he has particular expertise advising on the consents
process for major infrastructure projects with a focus on energy
projects including power stations, wind projects, gas storage
facilities and refineries. In addition, he assists clients in
the assessment and management of planning and environmental risk in
the context of mergers and acquisitions and complex financing
transactions often involving companies or assets in the power,
chemical and refining sectors.
John also advises on a range of climate change related matters,
including the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and alternative ways of
addressing carbon dioxide emissions such as carbon capture and
storage. John’s clients include energy companies,
multinational corporations, banks and government agencies.
John’s appointment further demonstrates Field Fisher
Waterhouse’s commitment to strengthening its cross-practice energy
capability. His appointment follows that of partner Carlos Pierce, an energy
sector specialist who joined the team in May 2011 from Squire
Sanders Hammonds.
Antony Phillips, Head of Real Estate at Field Fisher Waterhouse,
said: “The firm has a significant number of high profile
energy clients including National Grid and BP and John’s
considerable energy sector experience will be a great asset to the
team. The firm is focused on increasing our energy service
offering as well as providing clients with planning expertise and
John will have an important role to play as we continue to grow our
market share.”
