06 October 2004
Working closely with the in-house corporate legal team at the
BBC led by Jane Vizard, Head of Corporate Legal at the BBC, City
law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse advised the BBC on its landmark
outsourcing deal with Siemens Business Services (see BBC press

The two-part deal is the first of its kind in the media
industry. The transaction involved the acquisition by Siemens
Holdings plc of the BBC Technology group of companies for a
consideration of £150 million. The outsourcing contract,
worth almost £2 billion over 10 years, is the largest so far in
2004.
Corporate partner
Andrew
Blankfield and solicitor Laurence Lumb worked with Peter
Ranyard of BBC Corporate Legal on the sale of BBC Technology
Limited to Siemens. The team on the outsourcing contract with
Siemens Business Services, working with Eduard Murray, Anthony
Vittadini and William Hayes of the BBC, comprised partners Nigel
Wildish and Justin Harrington, and solicitors Guy Veysey and
Belinda Doshi. Tax and employment input were provided by
solicitors Nigel Moss, Mikael Boman and Grant Hamilton.
