FFW advises new client Getty Images, Inc on $165 million acquisition
25 April 2005
City law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse advised Getty Images, Inc,
the world’s leading imagery company, on its $165 million
acquisition of London-based Digital Vision.
Digital Vision is one of the world’s leading royalty-free
photography businesses. Its acquisition is the largest Getty Images
has made in five years and consolidates the company’s position as
the leading creator and provider of royalty-free imagery
worldwide. The acquisition is expected to increase the
revenue that Getty Images generates from royalty-free content, and
will do so at significantly higher margins due to the collection’s
large proportion of wholly-owned content.
The Getty Images team was led by General Counsel Jeff Beyle,
Corporate Counsel Simon Quirk and Steve Cristallo. They were
supported by FFW corporate partner Andrew Blankfield and solicitor
Christine Phillips and tax solicitor Grant Hamilton.
Travers Smith advised the vendors of Digital Vision.
Corporate partner Charles Barter headed the team with commercial
partner Alistair Wilson and corporate assistant Martin
Wygas.
