FFW advises new Danish client in £14 million department store disposal

10 January 2005

Field Fisher Waterhouse advised Danish investment company Keops InvestorPartner A/S (Keops) in its disposal of a House of Fraser Department Store in Darlington for a consideration in excess of £14 million to Parker Green Company Limited.  The matter had to be exchanged and completed within a few weeks following extensive negotiations.

Keops is one of the largest Danish private investment companies and invests in both the UK and European market.  FFW were first instructed by Keops on the acquisition of the department store and have received further instructions since then on other matters.

FFW real estate partner Edward Bannister acted for Keops.  Edward acts for several Danish investment companies who have been very active in the UK market over the last few years (see notes for editors).

Bruce Lightbody of Addleshaw Goddard acted for the purchaser.

Jens Knudsen, Head of Investment and Financing UK at Keops, says:
"After long negotiations, we had to go for a swift exchange and completion. Luckily we were a strong team, with John March (of Robertshaw March Jones, the agent) and Edward Bannister leading us to a safe haven and a successful completion."
