FFW advises the Foreign Office on major web procurement project
22 February 2007
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP (FFW) has advised the Foreign &
Commonwealth Office (FCO) on the procurement of suppliers to
redevelop, manage and host a web platform that will host the new
FCO web presence. The contract will cover a minimum five year
period and was awarded to international IT services company,
LogicaCMG.
The new FCOWeb platform will deliver websites owned by the FCO,
many of which have critical importance to the UK population, such
as the main fco.gov.uk website which provides travel advice to UK
travellers. These sites experience heavy traffic, especially
in times of emergency or disaster.
FFW won the competitive tender for the project in July last
year. The firm advised the FCO on all aspects of the procurement
process, including the drafting of the contractual and
pre-contractual documentation and negotiations with potential
suppliers. This is the fourth recent project that FFW have
advised FCO on.
Head of the technology group, Michael Chissick led on
the project. This is yet another high-profile public sector
project for the firm following major IT outsourcings for the Home
Office, DCLG and the Government Offices for the Regions among
others.
Michael
Chissick said: “We are delighted to have advised the Foreign
Office on this important project. The FCO websites involved
need to be of the highest standards as they supply vital
information to the public. Our involvement on this project is
indicative of our track record working with the public sector on
high-profile IT procurement work.”
