Field Fisher Waterhouse appoints leading IP litigator

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of
leading IP partner, Hamish Porter, who joins the firm from
Addleshaw Goddard.
Hamish specialises in IP litigation
with a particular emphasis on copyright,
trade
marks and passing off. His practice has a focus on the
media, entertainment,
sport and luxury goods
industries and he has a strong client base from the film, music and
sports industries. Hamish's recent cases include British
Horseracing Board V William Hill Organisation Ltd, the first case
to come to trial under the Database Directive, and L'Oreal v
Bellure NV a trade mark and passing off case involving smell-alike
fragrances.
This latest appointment follows on from a number of recent
partner hires across Field Fisher Waterhouse’s European offices,
including those of corporate partner, Marie Evrard (Brussels)
and IP partner Alexandra von Bismark
(Hamburg) and Ian
Craig, who joined the IP litigation team in London last year
from Dorsey & Whitney, to boost the firm’s expertise in
patent
litigation. The appointment will bring the total number of partners
at Field Fisher Waterhouse to 104.
Hamish joins one of the largest intellectual
property practices in Europe, with 15 partners and a total of
49 lawyers who specialise in IP. His appointment will further
boost the practice’s IP litigation capability as well as bringing
further expertise to the firm’s cross-departmental media group.
