Field Fisher Waterhouse unveils Italian arm of its European growth strategy
29 May 2007
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the next step in its
strategy for European growth. The firm enters into an exclusive
relationship with its historic Italian European Legal Alliance
partner La
Scala.
The firm will remain independent and will retain its original
firm name domestically, though with the suffix ‘in association with
Field Fisher Waterhouse’, but will adopt the Field Fisher
Waterhouse brand internationally.
Last month Field Fisher Waterhouse launched two new offices in
Germany and Belgium and entered into an
exclusive relationship with Jiménez de Parga in Spain – a
similar arrangement to the La Scala relationship. The firm is
also in significant discussions with Dubarry in Paris about a
merger. These developments supersede the successful European Legal
Alliance, and represent further progress towards a more integrated
client service across the core European business centres.
La Scala & Associati was founded in 1991. The firm’s head
office is in Milan and it also has offices in Rome, Turin, Vicenza,
Padova, Verona and Mantova. La Scala now has ten partners and
more than 40 other lawyers. La Scala predominantly advises
institutions and companies in the financial sector and has
particular expertise in banking, capital markets, bankruptcy and
commercial law. The firm also specialises in IP and IT;
corporate, real estate, employment, tax and general litigation.
Marco Pesenti, La Scala’s Managing Partner, said: “Following the
European Legal Alliance, this is the next logical step for La
Scala. The exclusive relationship allows us to provide a more
integrated international service to our clients thanks to the added
backing of Field Fisher Waterhouse’s European operation.”
Moira Gilmour, Field
Fisher Waterhouse’s Managing Partner, said: “This is an exciting
opportunity to reinforce our presence in Italy in partnership with
La Scala & Associati. Italy is a key European market and
La Scala is the right firm to help us achieve success there.
The addition of La Scala adds real strength to our newly integrated
European operation.”
