Field Fisher Waterhouse advises BBC Legal on sale of Outside Broadcasts division

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP has advised
BBC Legal on the sale of the Outside Broadcasts division of the
BBC’s wholly-owned commercial subsidiary, BBC Resources Ltd, to
Satellite Information Services Ltd (SIS).
BBC Outside Broadcasts is one of the UK's
leading providers of outside broadcast production facilities and
services. It operates a large fleet of television production units
plus sound, support and communications vehicles and award-winning
special cameras. The business supports events ranging from
music festivals, drama productions and major state occasions, to
Wimbledon, the Olympics and World Cup football.
Under SIS ownership, Outside Broadcasts will
continue to provide services to the BBC and other customers.

Andrew Blankfield led the Field Fisher
Waterhouse team on the deal, assisted by corporate solicitor Carlton Durrant.
The BBC is a long standing client of the firm.
The firm also supported BBC Legal on the disposals of BBC
Technology in 2004 and BBC Broadcast in 2005 and has more recently
advised BBC Worldwide on a number of investments, including
Left Bank Productions, an independent production vehicle set up by
“The Queen” producer Andy Harries.
The firm has a strong reputation for corporate
work in the media sector, and has recently closed deals for Viacom,
Chello Zone and Hammer Film Holdings.
