Field Fisher Waterhouse advises Southwark Council on agreement for prime riverside site
03 July 2008
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP has been advising
Southwark Council in respect of its prime Potters Field site
on the riverside between Tower Bridge and the LDA building on the
South Bank. Another part of the site is owned by Berkeley
Homes.
Southwark and Berkeley Homes have been in
dispute over the site since November 2005 when Berkeley Homes was
granted planning permission for a controversial scheme for the
entire site designed by architect, Ian Ritchie.
However, following the signing of a
Co-operation Agreement between the two parties, Southwark and
Berkeley Homes are working together to produce a new, jointly
agreed, scheme for the development of the site. Field Fisher
Waterhouse drafted and negotiated the Co-operation Agreement on
behalf of Southwark.
Real Estate partner
Antony Phillips led the Field Fisher
Waterhouse team, assisted by partners Edward
Bannister (Development) and Sarah Youren (Planning) and employed barrister Karen
McHugh.
Antony Phillips
said: “We are delighted to have helped Southwark reach this
stage, which is the first step towards an exciting new scheme for
one of the most important undeveloped riverside locations in
London.”
Berkeley Homes was advised by Bevan
Brittan.
