Field Fisher Waterhouse appoints pensions partner in third lateral hire this month
24 September 2008
Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today
the appointment of pensions partner Michael Calvert. Michael
joins the firm’s Employment and Pensions Group from Reed Smith.
Michael is the third partner to join the firm
this month, following the appointments of property litigation
specialist, Lesley Webber, also from Reed
Smith, and Andrew Dodd, a technology and telecoms
litigator who joined the firm from DLA Piper. This latest
appointment is the ninth lateral hire of the current financial
year, bringing the total number of partners at the firm to 126.
Michael has nearly 20 years’ experience in
pensions law and prior to joining Reed Smith worked at Ashursts.
He is experienced in all aspects of pensions law, acting for
both employers and trustees, and has been instructed by some of the
largest pensions schemes in the UK. He acts on transactional
and non-transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions,
outsourcings, scheme mergers, wind ups and funding and Pensions
Regulator issues.
He joins Field Fisher Waterhouse’s London
pensions practice, headed by partner David
Gallagher. The firm’s UK pensions clients include
Electricity Pensions, Arriva and the Government Actuary’s
Department. The firm’s Brussels office also has a market
leading pensions team headed by partner, Corinne Merla.
David Gallagher, Head of Pensions at Field
Fisher Waterhouse, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael to
the firm. He has an excellent reputation in the industry and
his expertise in private sector pensions will be a good complement
to our practice’s leading public sector pension capability.”
