Sarah Ellson is a partner in
the Field Fisher Waterhouse’s Public and
Regulatory Law Group. Sarah has
extensive experience of all aspects of our Public Law and
Regulatory Group’s work, in particular the prosecution of cases
before the fitness to practise committees of a number of healthcare
regulators. She has worked on judicial reviews and
appeals. Sarah sits as a Legal Assessor to a number of
professional disciplinary committees. She also undertakes
advocacy at regulatory tribunals.
Sarah works for a
number of smaller and start up regulators including several
psychotherapy regulators, as a result she has been involved in
drafting and interpretation of regulations. She has conducted
review projects on complaints handling and licensing procedures for
public bodies.
Sarah is
described by Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as “a very
fair prosecutor who clearly has a first-class grasp of the practice
area”… she also impressed sources with her “thorough
understanding of the area” and “sensible, user-friendly
attitude.”
Sarah provides
comprehensive training for panellists, investigatory teams and
medical assessors for a variety of regulators and speaks on
regulatory matters at conferences and seminars organised by
professional bodies and organisations.
Sarah is a member of the Association of Regulatory
& Disciplinary Lawyers (ARDL) and the Manchester Law
Society.
