Babette Märzheuser-Wood has a strong reputation in international legal
work with a particular focus on Germany.
Babette is recognised as one of Europe’s leading experts for
international franchising,
particularly in the hotel and leisure
sector.
Babette originally qualified as a solicitor in Germany. After
working in Hong Kong for 2 years she came to the UK in 1991 where
she cross qualified as a solicitor. She speaks German, English,
French, Spanish and Russian and is head of our German Desk. Babette acts for a large number of
German companies ranging from major stock exchange listed
corporations to the Mittelstand.
She advises on international joint ventures, Master Franchise,
Development and Unit Franchise Agreements and on International Roll
Out Programmes. She has transactional experience in all 27 EU
countries. She is also known for her expertise in international
advertising
and sponsorship law.
Babette is Secretary of the IBA Franchise Committee, a
member of the ABA Franchise Forum/International Committee and
teaches English law at University of Liechtenstein in Vaduz. She is
also a regular speaker at IBA, IFA and ABA events.
