Nick Pimlott

Nick Pimlott specialises competition law and communications regulation.  His wide-ranging practice covers all the competition law disciplines: EU and UK merger control, abuse of dominance, JVs/co-operation agreements, distribution and licensing agreements, cartels, state aid and public procurement. He has particular expertise in advising on the relationship between competition law and intellectual property rights.

Nick also has long-standing and extensive experience of communications regulation, in which he is ranked in Chambers legal directory as an “Associate to Watch” (before being promoted to partner in May 2007).  He has been closely involved in many of the key developments in the UK communications sector over the past 10 years, including local loop unbundling, the auction of 3G spectrum, the introduction of the current regulatory regime in 2003, and mobile call termination charges.

Nick’s clients for competition law/regulatory advice include one of the UK’s five mobile network operators, other technology and telecoms operators, owners of major national databases, UK Government departments and other public sector bodies as well as a wide range of organisations in many other sectors.

Nick is a member of the Law Society’s European Group and the Competition Law Association.

Nick writes frequently on competition law and regulatory matters and speaks at conferences on these topics.
