Martin Smith is a partner in
Field Fisher Waterhouse’s Public and
Regulatory Law Group. Martin specialises in administrative and public law and is listed in
Chambers and Partners as a leading individual for
Administrative and Public Law. He advises public bodies and
officials on vires, statutory interpretation and the fair exercise
of their powers and duties. He also advises a range of
private sector organisations on their interaction with regulators
and government.
Martin trained as
a barrister and has extensive experience of public sector litigation, including statutory
appeals and judicial review in tribunals, the High Court, Court of
Appeal and House of Lords. Martin also has extensive
experience of inquiries and investigations. He has advised
several very high profile public inquiries and has been involved in
a number of independent private investigations.
Martin is
