Michael
Calvert has specialised in pensions law
since qualifying in 1989. He has wide experience advising trustees
and employers on the full range of pension issues and has a
particular expertise in the pension implications for schemes and
companies of corporate transactions and restructurings and in
funding and employer debt mitigation structures. He also advises on
Pensions Regulator and Pension Protection Fund issues, scheme
mergers, benefit changes, windings up and disputes, as well as more
routine scheme documentation and maintenance issues.
Michael is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and
from 2003 to 2008 sat on the pensions committee of ILAG (the
Investment and Life Assurance Group), a trade body for producers or
distributors of pension, investment and related products.
Michael specialises in the financial
institutions, technology &
telecommunications, energy, life sciences, media &
entertainment, public sector and
transport sectors.
Michael speaks regularly at internal and external seminars, most
recently the NAPF South local group on issues when changing pension
benefits and as chair of a seminar hosted by British and American
Business Inc on the Pensions Regulator and corporate
transactions.
He has written articles for and been quoted in a number of
publications, including Legal Business, Pensions
Week and R3 (a journal for insolvency
practitioners).
