Stijn Debaene is a partner in our Brussels
office specialising in intellectual
property matters, both contentious and non-contentious.
He has litigated in cases in all fields of
intellectual property law with a particular focus on
patents and
trade marks as well as in several related fields such as unfair
competition law and sports law. His
clients include multinationals in the retail -
particularly fashion and toys, pharmaceuticals and chemicals sectors.
As far as non-contentious work is concerned,
Stijn advises frequently on pharmaceutical law (also on non-IP
related issues such as clinical trials, advertising and pricing and
reimbursement issues) and assists pharma companies and other
research-driven undertakings in drafting and negotiating R&D,
Joint Development and other IP-sensitive agreements.
Stijn is frequently interviewed by Belgian and
foreign journalists regarding “hot” IP-matters such as the European
Court of Justice’s decisions regarding cross-border patent
litigation and the Google AdWords litigation.
Stijn graduated from the Catholic University
of Leuven and completed an LL.M at the Columbia University School
of Law.

and Italian.
