Katharine has experience of a wide range of
property transactions. Her role within the real estate department, as a professional
support lawyer (PSL), is to keep the department up to date with
changes in the law. This encompasses training, know-how, current
awareness, drafting precedents, identifying topics for articles and
writing and editing them.
Katharine also speaks at external conferences
and provides training workshops and seminars for clients.
Katharine sits on the editorial boards of
Estates Gazette and Landlord & Tenant Review, as well as on the
editorial board of the commercial property channel of “isurv”, the
award-winning RICS online service.
She has played an active role in the
consideration of draft legislation, including the Land Registration
Rules, e-conveyancing, the reforms to the Landlord and Tenant Act
1954, the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act and energy
performance certificates. She was a member of the working party
which published the 2007 Code for Leasing Business Premises.
Katharine attends regular meetings with
government departments, such as the Land Registry, Department for
Communities and Local Government and the Stamp Office, to discuss
developments in law and practice and their effect on
practitioners
