Louise Fernandes-Owen is a Senior Associate (PSL) in our
Employment and Pensions Group.
Louise
trained and worked as an employment solicitor in the City, and has
broad experience of both contentious and non-contentious employment
law issues. She has advised employers on a wide variety of matters,
ranging from employee status, sickness absence, disciplinary and
grievance issues to whistleblowing and harassment allegations, TUPE
transfers, collective redundancies, unfair dismissal and complex
discrimination issues.
Louise
produces a wide variety of client-focused publications on
employment law issues, including briefing notes, newsletters and
fortnightly email alerters on recent developments. She also
co-ordinates the Employment Law Blog. She organises internal
training, designs and delivers bespoke training programmes for
clients and co-ordinates the Group's annual
employment law training programme. Her role
also entails producing guidance and precedent documentation for use
within the Group.
Louise has
written widely for HR, legal and national publications, including
Personnel Today, People Management, Employment Law Journal,
Solicitors Journal, Legal Week and The Financial Times. Louise has
also written a practice note for PLC, a legal information provider,
and has co-written and edited a specialist employment law text for
the HR and legal market.
Louise has
spoken at external conferences on employment law issues, most
recently on the Equality Act 2010 and disability discrimination
issues, and has also spoken at a conference for Professional
Support Lawyers.
