Melissa has experience across a range of
commercial and intellectual
property matters and has acted for major brands in the retail,
sports, media, communications and technology sectors.
She gained valuable commercial experience
as a result of a media secondment to Warner Bros during her
training contract with Baker & McKenzie LLP; drafting contracts
for promotional agency services and advising on the promotion and
advertising for upcoming releases. Prior to joining Field Fisher
Waterhouse she was legal counsel at Discovery Communications
(commonly known as the Discovery Channel) where she drafted
and negotiated channel carriage agreements with operators in the
emerging markets and advised on a range of matters including brand
promotion and marketing, online exploitation of brands, copyright
infringement, privacy, data protection, anti-piracy and prize
competitions.
Melissa is a member of the Media Group and
advises on legal issues relating to film and television production,
exploitation, acquisition, financing and distribution.
She is a member of Women in Film and Television.
