Neil has a
broad experience of contentious and non-contentious employment
matters. He regularly advises both private and public sector employers and also
has experience acting for and advising individuals.
His
experience includes advising on High Court bonus claims and FSA and
injunctive matters. Neil also has broad experience advising on
outsourcing and TUPE matters, collective redundancies, the
implications of the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 and drafting
employment contracts, handbooks and policies. Neil also provides
advice on general HR queries, managing disciplinary and grievance
matters, managing exits, responding to data subject access requests
and questionnaires. He also has significant litigation expertise,
covering unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and all aspects of
discrimination law and has participated in a number of
mediations.
Neil has
written articles for a variety of HR and legal publications such as
Personnel Today and the Employment Law Journal, has provided a
series of articles on the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 for UK
Recruiter, and is the updating author for Xpert HR's online
chapters on the employment aspects of financial services
matters. Neil has also been quoted in The Independent in
relation to a number of employment related sports matters including Carlos
Tevez' alleged refusal to play and the Patrice Evra / Luis Suarez
incident.
Neil is an
active member of the City HR Association and was part of the their
working party working with the Equality and Human Rights Commission
on proposals to address the gender pay gap in the City.
Neil presents
seminars and workshops on a regular basis as part of the Employment and Pensions Group
annual training programme. He has delivered a series of nationwide
seminars on the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 and has also spoken
at an external seminar for Xpert HR on the employment aspects of
the FSA Handbook.
Neil is also
an active contributor to the firm's pro bono programme providing
pro bono advice for Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre at the
University of London and Pink Law at the University of
London.
