Richard
Kenyon is a partner and Head of the Employment and Pensions
Group. He has specialised in employment and equal treatment issues
since qualification in 1992.
Richard advises on all aspects of employment law from the
boardroom to the basement. He cut his teeth conducting all of his
own advocacy before Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal
Tribunal. He now advises on large-scale redundancy programmes, TUPE
transfers and rollouts of contractual changes across workforces as
well as providing rapid response advice for employment problems
that require immediate action, and litigation in relation to unfair
dismissal and discrimination issues.
Richard is experienced in advising in the following sectors:
financial institutions, technology & telecommunications, energy, life sciences,
hotels & leisure, media & entertainment, public sector, retail,
sport and transport.
One of the great joys of employment law is that all businesses
rely upon employees. Richard therefore works across a wide
range of sectors each with its own nuances. In any one day he
might be advising on bonuses within the financial services sector
and then on the national minimum wage for a food retailer: advising
a public body on its positive equality duties and then defending a
discrimination claim against a major company and its directors.
Richard speaks regularly at conferences and seminars and
provides bespoke training to clients on all employment and equality
issues. He has contributed an email and internet policy to The
Cabinet Office website and precedents to Butterworths Encyclopaedia
of Forms and Precedents Employment Law Volume. He has also written
widely for journals as diverse as the New Law Journal and
Pipes and Pipelines International and is on the editorial
board of the Employment Law Journal.
Richard co-wrote a chapter on employment and the FSA for online
publishers XpertHR and is the co-author of Promoting Equality
and Diversity: A Practitioner's Guide (Oxford University
Press).

The book explains the fundamental changes in the
approach to achieving equality and diversity that are occurring as
a result of recent legislation. It provides a clear and practical
explanation of both good practice and the legislation behind the
new more proactive approach.
