Phil heads up our newly opened office in Palo Alto and is a Partner
within the Privacy and Information
Law Group. He advises on all aspects of data privacy
and information law as well as wider online regulation. Phil holds
Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) (CIPP/E) status
and, in 2012, was nominated for "Internet and E-commerce Lawyer of
the Year" award by Who's Who.
Phil has particular specialisms in behavioural
profiling and cookie regulation, e-marketing, and international
data transfer strategies (including binding corporate rules). He
has worked on numerous multi-jurisdictional data privacy projects
across more than 80
countries. In addition to privacy and information law, Phil
regularly advises on a wide variety of other technology, social
media, and e-commerce projects.
Phil holds an MA in Computer Science from
Cambridge University and a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual
Property from Bristol University. He is a frequent contributor
to Field Fisher
Waterhouse's Privacy and Information Law blog
(http://privacylawblog.ffw.com) and is also a contributing author
to the IAPP's "European Privacy: Law and Practice for Data
Protection Professionals" and Wolter Kluwers' "Global Privacy &
Security Laws".
