Julia Meyer is Associate in the Hamburg office of Field Fisher Waterhouse. She has particular expertise in advising clients from all areas of industry and service on general commercial, banking and insolvency matters with a special focus on contentious work. Julia has extensive experience in complex commercial disputes including cross-border settings.

She advises and represents both German and multinational clients in a wide range of commercial matters with a focus on distribution. She undertakes a variety of banking related work for both financial institutions and corporate clients, including all sorts of loan and collateral agreements, capital investment matters as well as proceedings and communication with the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). She also advises creditors, debtors, companies and office holders from all areas of industry and service on all restructuring and insolvency-related issues. Julia has substantial litigation experience in commercial, banking as well as in insolvency matters. She is member of our Business Recovery and Insolvency Group as well as the Financial Institutions Sector Group.

Prior to joining Field Fisher Waterhouse Julia worked for several years for a recommended law firm for insolvency administration appointed by several courts in the Rhineland area.

After completing a bank apprenticeship, Julia commenced her studies in law in Muenster, Bielefeld and Cologne, specializing in corporate and commercial law, and graduated from the University of Cologne and, as Magister Legum (LL.M.), from the University of Cape Town. She also completed a vocational training in Tax Law in 2004 and qualified as certified specialist attorney for the law of banking and capital markets (“Fachanwältin fuer Bank- und Kapitalmarktrecht”) in 2009.

Julia is a member of the German-South African Lawyers Association (GSLA) and of Norddeutsches Insolvenzforum, an association promoting training and professional interchange in German and international insolvency law.
