CHAMBERSSimon Moore represents clients in complex commercial, arbitration and court disputes, usually with an international/cross-border element. He acts for financial institutions and trading companies on investigations, shareholder disputes, joint ventures, warranty and accounting related claims and asset tracing and freezing orders. He has particular experience of representing CIS based clients in a variety of matters.

He has wide experience in both domestic and international arbitrations in the energy & natural resources and international trade sectors and has represented oil and gas companies, commodities traders, aviation and shipping businesses and investment companies in ICC, LCIA, LMAA and UNCITRAL arbitrations.

Simon is an experienced pensions litigator. He represents Employers, Trustees and Beneficiaries in pre-litigation advice and in court proceedings relating to Scheme funding, changes to Scheme Rules and duties to various stakeholders.

Recent matters have included:

  • Acting for vendors and purchasers in relation to various post share sale warranty disputes.
  • Representing a company in relation to an investigation into its shareholders’ identity and trading history.
  • Representing various energy and commodities businesses on their investments and daily trading activities.
  • Acting for joint venture partners in relation to various disputes regarding the management of and exit from their investments.
  • Acting for representative beneficiaries of pensions scheme in court proceedings by the Employer and the Trustees for amendment to a rule in his pensions scheme.

Simon is authorised by the Dubai International Financial Centre ("DIFC") as a practitioner permitted to issue and conduct proceedings in the DIFC Courts which hear all types of civil and commercial matters. Proceedings in the DIFC Courts are conducted in English applying common law principles.

Simon is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars on topics such as insolvency, fraud and asset collection, international arbitration and risk management - he speaks at around five or six each year. He also regularly contributes to various professional journals.
