Leonie Power is a Senior Associate in Field Fisher Waterhouse’s
Privacy and Information Law Group. Leonie was admitted to the
Roll of Solicitors in the Republic of Ireland in 1997 and qualified
as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2000.
Leonie provides strategic and practical advice on the full range
of data protection and e-compliance issues affecting business
operations and has particular expertise in the area of
international data warehousing arrangements, data security
compliance, e-marketing and employee monitoring. She
has provided advice to a wide range of businesses across the
retail, premiership football, telecommunications, construction,
media and financial services sectors.
Leonie has completed a number of successful secondments
including for a global financial services group where she worked as
part of a team to update internal audit controls concerning data
security. She also spent time on secondment with a
major retail group and a well-known media brand, advising on data
protection and security matters. Over a period of a number of
years, Leonie was retained as data protection adviser by the same
retail organisation and a major provider of educational services to
advise on business-as-usual data protection compliance as well as
the privacy compliance issues affecting new projects.
Leonie has a particular focus in the media &
entertainment, financial
institutions, retail and
technology
& communications sectors.
Leonie has spoken on data protection and privacy issues in the
UK and abroad and provided specialist training in this field.
In addition to her data protection expertise, Leonie also holds a
Diploma in Intellectual Property Law from Nottingham
University.
Leonie speaks German (conversational) and Italian
(conversational).
