James Shaw is a qualified solicitor with over 10 years of
experience of advising on a range of corporate and
banking/investment matters, including mergers and acquisitions,
subscription and shareholder agreements, buy-outs/buy-ins, venture
capital fundraisings, IPOs, corporate reorganisations and joint
ventures.
James regularly advises UK and overseas clients on domestic and
cross-border transactions in the banking, technology, telecoms, oil
and mining sectors. As a member of our CIS Group, he has recently
advised a major Kazakh oil company on a strategic acquisition in
Kazakhstan, as well as the acquisition of a significant
shareholding in Arsenal Holdings plc.
With experience of advising on innovative structures, James
advised on establishing a new mutual organisation, Kent Reliance
Provident Society Limited, as part of the transfer of Kent Reliance
Building Society’s business to OneSavings Bank Plc. He also
recently acted for a leading currency exchange business on its
acquisition of a competitor based in the UK, as well as advising an
existing telecoms client on the terms of a strategic joint venture
with a service provider to the communications sector.
