Michela Velardo is a litigator in the EU
Competition and Regulatory department. She advises on
strategies and procedures in front of the Court of Justice of the
European Union and deals with cases in front of the Italian
Administrative and Commercial Courts. Her main area of focus is on
litigation between the European Institutions and its officials
(Fonction Publique Européenne). Since she joined Field Fisher
Waterhouse in 2008, she also specialises in food law and
nanomaterials.
Before joining the firm, Michela worked for four years as an
agent of the Legal Service of the European Commission where she
defended and represented the institution with many cases
(staff matters, structural funds, taxes) in front of the European
Courts. She also advised various DG on European legislation
aspects.
Michela is a regular speaker at seminars related to European
and Italian legislation and she currently collaborates with
the Italian Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura for
which she speaks on European Procedural Law in training courses for
Italian judges.
Michela holds a degree in law from Rome’s University “La
Sapienza”. She has a Master in Italian Administrative Law (grant
holder at the Superior School of Public Administration). She
regularly publishes on the review of the Italian Bar Association
(dirittoeformazione) and on other national and international
reviews.
Michela is a member of the Rome and Brussels Bar (list E). She
has been working for several years as a lawyer for Italian law
firms and Italian Institutions, focusing mainly on national civil,
commercial and administrative law.
