There is no specific franchise law in the Republic of Ireland.

Franchising is a strong and growing part of the Irish economy.  There are more than 270 franchise systems active in Ireland.

Among the Ireland's top  franchisors are both leading international brands such as McDonalds and Body Shop.

Franchise Legislation

Ireland is a common law country. It generally respects the commercial agreement agreed by contracting parties.

  • there is no franchise disclosure law in Ireland and there is no general duty of good faith
  • there is no franchise registration
Conclusion

Ireland is a franchise friendly jurisdiction.  However, in order to avoid claims of misrepresentation it is recommended that an appropriately customised disclosure document is used.
