Power & renewables

The ability to provide power in a sustainable, secure and cost efficient way goes to the heart of the energy challenge. The need for new energy generation projects combined with the global drive for green energy and sustainability to meet this challenge have led to a raft of new legislation and policy reviews in the UK.

Our service

We understand and have experience of the diverse issues raised in power generation and have advised clients on a wide range of power and renewable projects in the UK and overseas.

Renewable technology is often a key issue and we have a strong track record in advising early stage companies on technology issues and taking them to market. We also have a strong “cleantech” practice as well as a specialist “Green” Group comprising experts across the firm focusing on Green issues.

We advise on issues such as the following:

  • acquisition and sale of power stations
  • project financing of power generation projects
  • electricity privatisations
  • fuel supply and offtake contracts
  • the acquisition of rights for electricity infrastructure
  • construction and operation and maintenance contracts
  • a wide range of renewable projects including solar, wind, wave, biomass, bio fuel, geothermal and geopressure
  • the effects of climate change legislation including carbon trading, the ROCs, LECS, REGO’s and CRC commitments
  • all areas of waste to energy projects
